Spring Teams Match #4

Today was the fourth Spring Teams match. It was a bit wet starting out but we got the matches in today.
Captain Denise Dodds' Team #3 traveled to The International Golf Club in Bolton, MA.
Captain Julie Clifford's Team #2 traveled to Belmont CC, in Belmont, MA.
Captain Maggie Lange's Team #1 traveled to Indian Ridge CC, in Andover, MA.
So far, Teams 3 and 2 are working hard and remain in 4th place. Team 1, gaining ground in the two most recent matches, fights on!
Fairway Ladies Participate in MassGolf Cris Eaton Chapman Tournament

Two person teams gathered at Fall River Country Club to compete in this fun and exciting tournament. The Chapman style has both golfers hit their tee shots. Then they hit their partner’s ball. For the third shot, they select a ball and alternate shots into the hole.
Golfers with 18.0 handicap or lower played in Division 1; golfers with Handicap 18.1-54 played in Division 2.
In Division 1, the team of Laura Hasenfus and Kelley Curley won second low net honors! They shot 5 under par and scored 67! Other participants were the team of Elaine Gebhardt and Joy Malchodi (+7, 79) and Jeanne Cronin (+14, 86) who partnered with a friend in another league.
In Division 2, the team of Elizabeth Wilson and Winnie Cotter won first low net honors! They shot 4 under par and scored 68! The solid performance of Joan Bengtson and Gail Schoenbrunn landed them in 6 th place (+5, 77).
The Cris Eaton Chapman Tournament was first played in 1965 to honor the memory of Cris Eaton, president of the WGMA in the mid-1950s and a person known for her charm, wit, and appreciation for sportsmanship and fair play.

Team 2 hosted their cup on May 1. Report from Captain Julie Clifford was that everyone enjoyed the day, buffet lunch was well received; our league and staff at William Devine represented well!

Opening Scramble Results

We officially teed off our 2025 Season with a fun Opening Scramble Weekend on May 3rd and 4th. Thanks to the fifty-five Fairway Ladies who participated in either the 18 hole Scramble on Saturday or the 9 hole Scramble on Sunday afternoon.
The golf gods delivered an unexpectedly warm and beautiful day for the ten teams who played on Saturday. After enjoying lunch on the patio these prizes were awarded.

After a brief shower on Sunday afternoon, and fortified with goodie bags, four teams played the 9 hole scramble. Great fun was had by all, with the following results.

Spring Teams Matches Have Begun!
April 27th, 2025
Three teams from Fairway Ladies of Franklin Park competed in the opening round of matches in Spring Team competition on Thursday April 24. Matches were played against three clubs north of Boston.
Team 1 players (Maggie Lange (captain), Elaine Gebhardt, Joy Malchodi, Myanna Pontoppidan, and Debra Watson), traveled to the Sagamore Spring Golf Club in Lynnfield where they scored 39.5 points.
Team 2 players (Julie Clifford (captain), Sandy McLaughlin, Vivian Meranda, Jan Murphy, Andrea Reissfelder) traveled to Rockport Golf Club where they scored 35 points.
Team 3 players (Denise Dodds (captain), Jeanne Cronin, Pat Ghannam, Marilyn Miller, and Gail Schoenbrunn) traveled to Mt. Pleasant Golf Club in Lowell where they scored 42.5 points.
